Not exactly perfection: Twisted Perfection by Abbi Glines

Hey Lovelies,

I finished this book last night and I am just not feeling so great about it. I adore Abbi Glines, she is a fantastic writer and I really loved Fallen Too Far. I wasn’t as in love with Never Too Far because of the abrupt ending and now I feel so torn about the third book which she has turned into a new series on its own. So just to clear up any confusion about that there will be 3 books about Rush and Blaire (Fallen Too Far, Never Too Far and Forever Too Far) then 2 books about Woods and Della (Twisted Perfection and Simple Perfection) then 2 books about Grant and the girl who wins his heart. The links will be to the Goodreads pages for the books. I will still read anything Abbi writes I just feel like the last 2 books have not been her best work.

Twisted Perfection by Abbi Glines

17333880Blurb: Life outside of her house was a new experience for Della Sloane. The dark secrets of her past weren’t something she ever intended to share with anyone. They would never understand. No one would ever get close enough to find out. There was always a chance she’d go crazy sooner than they expected…

Woods Kerrington had never been one to be attracted to fragile females. They seemed like too much work. He wasn’t in it for the work just the pleasure. A night full of naughty fun had been exactly what was on his mind when he’d laid eyes on the hot little number that didn’t know how to pump gas and needed some help.

What he didn’t know was she was as fragile as they came.
The carefree girl who spoke her mind and didn’t care what the world thought of her was more breakable than he could ever imagine…

I hate that I am doing half stars but it is necessary. I think I liked Woods less in his own story than in the Too Far books. At the beginning he is a shallow, horny man who is willing to marry a woman to please his dad. We did not hear about this while he was all up on Blaire in the Too Far series. But he just continually pissed me off in this book because I just kept thinking where is the Woods from the other books. He does redeem himself in this novel but I wish he had been awesome the entire way through. The girl Della was okay, I never really felt connected to her. She had a rough life and she was like a contradiction because she was super innocent about stuff but also not at the same time. It just felt off to me! The ending was good, there is some family drama during this story and the cliffhanger has to do with that instead of the will the couple stay together that most romance plots follow. Now on to the reason I read this book which is our old friends from rosemary. We did not have much interaction from the beloved characters from the other books. Jace is the most prominent secondary character. Bethy and Jimmy are in more scenes. Blaire has one cameo and Rush doesn’t even make an appearance! I was devastated that there wasn’t even a tiny bit about Rush and Blaire since I ❤ them so much. I probably wouldn’t have cared if I had bonded more with Woods and Della. This makes me sound as if I didn’t enjoy this book which is not true. I really liked it, it could have been better, but I was happy with the story overall. My favorite parts were conversations between Tripp and Woods, they are so funny during the pissing contests! At one point I was rooting more for Tripp than woods which should never happen in his story. The end made up for the beginning, in the personality of woods and we see Della’s whole story and she becomes more vulnerable which surprisingly made me like her more. I also feel like I should mention the fact that Abbi Glines’ NA books get racier every book. This story had some good scenes! Overall, good book not as good as either Too Far books but that’s going to happen. I am looking forward to reading the second book, simple perfection, in this spin-off series.

❤ Amanda
