Book review: Mad World Series by Christine Zolendz

Good evening Lovelies,

I finished the 2nd book a couple of hours ago and decided to post about both books in this series. The story is finished with the 2 books, Fall from Grace and Saving Grace, but the author is currently writing a book from Shane’s POV. Here we go:

Fall From Grace by Christine Zolendz

Blurb: I’m finally home after struggling through my brother’s illness and death. But, home is definitely a bit different. My best friend (the only person alive now that knows my secret) has a new boyfriend; and he has a friend. Shane Maxton: bad boy, tattooed rock god, eye candy extraordinaire. He is also New York City’s most arrogant, self-serving, son of a, well, a definite one-night stand kind of a guy.
But, it doesn’t matter to me because I’ve spent my existence looking for the love of my life, my angel. And, there is nothing that Shane Maxton can do to change that.

We first meet Grace who has just lost her brother. She is going home to be with her best friend, Lea, and when home she meets Shane the lead singer of Mad World. He also happens to be best friends with Lea’s boyfriend Connor. Grace has a huge secret and doesn’t want to be with any man other than the one she is searching for. This book was thrilling but not always in a good way. I hated that we dont learn what her secret is until 2/3 of the book and this being the first book there is no happy ending. A mildly shocking cliffhanger, the rest of the end was exactly as I had predicted. Then I was kind of pissed that she never saw it. COME ON! This is her soulmate we are talking about how could they not know. So there are obviously parts of this book that are frustrating but it was told beautifully. I adored this book, even though I was angry sometimes. I am immediately going to read book 2, which I am pretty sure is the final book. The author does through in some diversion tactics to keep it interesting and I was never bored while reading this. I think the character development wasn’t as good as it could have been. It would have been better to know what the deal was from the beginning. I think the author has it this way to keep it from being completely predictable but I think it still was regardless. Overall its a fantastic read and you should definitely check it out.

Saving Grace by Christine Zolendz

I liked this story. The chemistry was better than the first book. We got a happy ending but all kinds of stuff happened in this series and I don’t really know why. Which is the reason it is getting a lower rating than the first book. I can’t really express my thoughts without ruining the plot. Just know you will not be completely satisfied with the progression. However there will be a book from Shane’s POV so maybe we will figure out the answers. The sexual tension between Shane and Grace was so hot I was loving it. I also feel like I would believe all this more if we heard more about the beginning of the saleh/shamsiel story. I still think this series is good and very much worth reading!
