Hello Lovelies
I read another book today and it has been out for just a short time. The downside to that is because it is a series we now have to wait for subsequent books. She is self-published so we do not have to wait long. Here are my thoughts:
Sins and Needles by Karina Halle
Blurb: Ellie Watt is used to starting over. The daughter of a grifting team, Ellie spent her childhood being used as a pawn in her parents’ latest scam. Now she’s much older, wiser and ready to give her con artist life a rest. But returning to the dry desert town of Palm Valley, California means one more temptation than she bargained for – Camden McQueen. Once known as the high school weirdo, Camden is bigger and badder than the boy he used to be and a talented tattoo artist with his own thriving business. Ellie’s counting on Camden still being in love with her but what she’s not counting on is how easily unrequited love can turn into obsession over time. When Camden discovers Ellie’s plan to con him, he makes her a deal she doesn’t dare refuse, but her freedom comes with a price and it’s one that takes both Ellie and Camden down a dangerous road.

Damn this book was a wild ride! I am still in a state of shock. I never pictured this book being like this. I thought it was going to be a romance between 2 people, Ellie and Camden, that used to be friends and then broke each others hearts before reuniting. I was wrong. While this book may still include this story line that is in no way its premise. This book is about people trying to find their way out of bad situations and bonding through these circumstances. There is a bit of romance, only a couple of really steamy scenes, more would have made this even better! The character development was fantastic, it wound through this story and I really felt like the author did a wonderful job of giving you the right amount of information at each point. I love the flashbacks to high school. Even though they did break my heart. Some people may not like this cliffhanger ending, I actually did not mind this one. I am never really a fan of them but it seemed like a natural place for the first book to end. This is a series and there will be a prequel that will be from both main characters’ POV and then 2 other books in the story. I am looking forward to read about Ellie and Javier. It was beautifully written and I am excited to read more from this author. Definitely Read and Enjoy!
