Hello Lovelies,
While I have been away from home celebrating I have also had some reading time. I read two 5 star books over the weekend and cannot wait any longer to post about them! The first is a book that I was given to read through a group on Goodreads and it sounded good so I happily signed up. It was as good as I thought it would be and even better. It was just well written and the author is a great story-teller. And to my title question, read the book and find out what A Moment is.
A Moment by Marie Hall
Blurb: Ryan Cosgrove and Liliana Delgado are on a collision course with destiny. They don’t know it yet, but before the night is over their lives will be forever changed.
Spending Valentine’s Day at a burlesque bar, hadn’t been Liliana’s ideal way of spending a Friday night. She’d much rather be back on campus doing homework… until she meets Ryan. Tall, athletic, and gorgeous, Lili can’t keep her eyes off him, and despite his gruff manners and drunken disposition she’s intrigued.
Ryan’s got demons, and they’re deep, dark, and eating him alive. Regardless of his attraction to the petite brunette he’s tired of fighting, of pretending the last fifteen years haven’t been a daily struggle just to get out of bed every morning. That night he decides to end his pain, to leave it all behind and float away into the blessed darkness of oblivion. But fate has other plans for him, Lily finds and rescues Ryan, determined she’ll not only save his body, but his soul too.
This is their moment…

This book! I love books like this where the damaged character gets a HEA and when it is done right. Meaning that while I’m heart-broken by the emotional issues I still feel the happiness from the story, it’s all about the lighthearted moments. And speaking of moments, the author definitely had some thought-provoking ideas about them and the title of book was well-chosen.
The writing was great, the book was dual POV and I loved getting to know both characters and their insecurities as well as their pasts and love for each other. The editing was done well, a tiny number of errors slip by but nothing that pulls you from the story.
The leads, Ryan and Lili, were amazing together. I loved the addition of the first time she ever saw him and how it made it feel more like fate pushing them together. They both have their baggage and this book deals more with Ryan’s demons because Lili kind of had it all together. I adored her strength! Javier, her autistic son, just made me love this book that much more but because of the way Ryan and Lili interact with him. Alex, Ryan’s cousin, was a great best friend to both characters and I am very excited that he gets his own story.
Ryan and Lili have great chemistry together but I was so glad to read a book where the sex wasn’t the most prominent theme.
This is Ryan and by far the sweetest and at the same time heart breaking quote, I loved it. “I’ll treat her so good she’ll never wonder or care. I’ll make her forget she’s ever met the darker side of me and maybe, if I’m lucky, I’ll forget too.”
This book does deal with several emotional topics and should not be purchased by readers wanting a quick light romance. This book will make you cry, laugh, sigh and fall in love and once it’s over you will have nothing but joy left in your heart!
