Hello Lovelies,
Since I am still on vacation and I want to still give you guys some great content I am going to explain why I love Jillian Dodd. She is after all one of my favorite authors. She writes books that would be considered YA but I still greatly enjoy them (being a veterinarian you can sort of guess my age). Basically it comes down to good, clean, sweet writing that Heather would not be embarrassed to find her HS students reading. She has 2 series out so far the first was That Boy. And her newest series series is The Keatyn Chronicles. I am going to put reviews for both of these books below and links to the sequels, which are out as well. That boy has a 3rd book, That Baby, that will be released this summer and The Keatyn Chronicles 3rd book, Date Me, will be out April 15th.
That Boy by Jillian Dodd
Blurb: That Boy is a contemporary romance about falling in love with the boys next door.
You know, being friends with two cute boys does have its benefits.
There’s Danny. Danny is a golden boy in every way. He has dreamy blue eyes and blonde hair that always looks perfect, even when it’s windblown or been stuck under a football helmet. He’s the boy every girl crushes on. The boy I get into trouble with, the boy I fight with, the hot quarterback no girl can resist, not even me. Being with Danny is like being on an adventure. He has a bright, contagious smile and abs to die for. He’s pretty much irresistible.
Equally crush worthy is Phillip. Adorable, sweet Phillip, who I have known since birth. Phillip has dark hair, a perfect smile, brown eyes, and the sexiest voice I have ever heard. He’s the boy I talk to every night before I go to sleep. The boy who rescues me, the boy who can read my mind, the boy who is always there for me, the boy who tries to keep me out of trouble, the boy who irritatingly keeps getting hotter, and whose strong arms always seem to find their way around me. And when he gives me that grin, I can never say no.
One boy will give me my very first kiss.
One boy will teach me to make out.
One boy will take me to prom.
And finally, one boy will ask me to marry him.
They will both be my best friends.
But only one of them will be the boy I fall in love with.
Only one of them is That Boy

Amanda: Jillian’s blurb kind of says it all for me. This is just an adorable story. The best part is with both of her best friends being boys you don’t know who That Boy will be for her! Who wouldn’t want to read a book about the boy next door/ best friend! READ IT 😀
Heather: Wow. I love this book. I want to buy a million copies and walk around handing them out just so other people will experiences this novel with me. I feel so close with the characters. Jillian Dodd did an amazing job of using a dated plot and giving it life. The characters are so great I can imagine driving down their block and hang out with them as kids. I love this book and cannot wait to start That Wedding.
That Wedding Reviews
Amanda: I liked this one better than the first one. This book was a really natural progression to the story. I enjoyed the parts with Lori, it was nice to see JJ hang out with and act like a girl. The end was touching and I liked how it didn’t feel forced. I am trying to be vague and it sounds lame, so read this book (after That Boy) and you will not be disappointed.
Heather: I love this series. It is a sweet timeless story. I hope that Jillian Dodd will continue writing this series. I am in love with the characters. My favorite part of the novel is the characters back-stories. The back stories/flashbacks are too funny.
That Baby (goodreads page) expected release July 2013
Stalk Me (The Keatyn Chronicles #1) by Jillian Dodd
Blurb: Gossip girl meets Hollywood in this new series by That Boy author, Jillian Dodd.
Keatyn has everything she ever dreamed of. Her life is following the script she wrote for the perfect high school experience. She’s popular, goes to the best parties, dates the hottest guy, and sits at the most coveted lunch table.
She’s just not sure she wants it anymore.
Because really, things aren’t all that perfect.
Her best friend is threatening to tell everyone her perfect relationship is a scam.
Her perfect boyfriend gets drunk at every party they go to.
It’s exhausting always trying to look and act perfect.
And deep down, she isn’t sure if she has any true friends.
To add to the drama, her movie star mom’s long-time fan has turned stalker.
An older man is flirting with her and telling her they should make a movie together.
And she’s crushing on an adorable surfer. Dating a guy like him would mean committing social suicide.
So she writes a new script. One where all the pieces of her life will come together in perfect harmony.
But little does she know, there’s someone who will do anything to make sure that doesn’t happen.

Amanda: I absolutely love this book! It was amazing and I can say I was wrong it had a great ending, not a complete pretty bow ending but it’s a series. In the middle I was worried this was going to have a crappy cliff hanging ending, so glad to be wrong!
So this book was not at all what I expected it to be, the first part was but then when she goes to the boarding school it turned and ran in the opposite direction. I just loved it!
First off is Keatyn, she is a sweet girl who has famous parents and feels like that trapped her into some of the friends she has, that are terrible people. She is thrown a great deal in just the beginning of this book and she stays calm and protects her family. She does this by making a choice that would be hard for any high school student to make. I respect this character a lot and really felt pulled into her story.
The boys: At the beginning I loved her with Cush, and I probably still would if he was around later on but now I don’t even know who I like more Aiden or Riley!! We are just getting to know them so book 2 will be exciting and I cannot wait.
I already like Dallas way more than Brooklyn and the name thing cracks me up! Brooklyn wasn’t ever that strong of a leading male character for me. When she was with him I was always wanting her to be with Cush!
Back to the book, I had this awful feeling about the stalker pretty much right off the bat. I am curious to see where that story line ends up because it kind of fell away towards the end of the book when she goes off to the new school.
The friends: Vanessa and now Whitney… gotta love the horrible girls in high school. I really hope Peyton stays a good character because so far I like her.
Overall this book is fantastic, just like Jillian Dodd’s other 2 books, and I am anxiously awaiting book 2!
Heather: This was another success from Jillian Dodd. She was not joking when she said this book was full of super fun boys. I love Keatyn. I was worried that I would not be able to connect with her character because she is so young and very California. However, she is a doll. I love her and her relationship with her family. I have really come to love when a novel incorporates strong family relationships in the plot. When I started reading the background information on Keatyn’s mom and step dad my mind automatically went to Brad and Angelina. However, Keatyn’s mom is way cooler than Angelina, just saying. Now to the many men in Keatyn’s life. I love her with Cush. He is so sweet and does and says the nicest things. I am not a fan of Brooklyn; he just seemed “chill” in not a cool way. I am happy that she still gets to talk to him because he was one of her best friends but I am glad she is not with him. I am also nervously awaiting to see what happens with super creepy Vincent. I love the set up for the next novel and I cannot wait for the new one.
Kiss Me (KC#2) Reviews
Amanda: Oh how I loved this book! It starts where the last book ends and gives a whole lot of drama. Keatie is just as adorable as this nickname! I am still so swept away by all the boy drama, I love all the boys in this series. I dont want to give anything away but it still has all the fun and less of the stalker. The conversations with her mom and Tommy are awesome. And some of the best quotes are hidden in this book. It also has the best ending ever!!!!!
Heather: This was another great novel by Jillian Dodd. She never disappoints. I love the characters. However, I am not crazy about Aiden. I feel like he is a wedge between Keatyn and Dawson. Dawson is so sweet and I am nervous about what is going to happen between them in the next book. I loved how there was a little of Vincent the stalker in this book but did not rule the book. Great book and I cannot wait for the next one.
Date Me (KC #3) release date April 15 2013
Jillian writes an amazing adventure and The Keatyn Chronicles has been my favorite yet. She writes such believable characters that even though most of us don’t live in this world we can still be immersed in it and attach ourselves to the characters in the books, especially the boys. 🙂 Jillian is awesome as well she is so sweet. You will definitely see more from me on the lovely Jillian. Hope you enjoyed this post. If you like That Boy better or want to tell me what team you are on comment below. If enough of you tell me I will tell you and I am not the normal Team Aiden or Team Dawson.
❤ Amanda
