Hello lovelies,
I was given the opportunity recently to review this series and I read them today. It was so good I couldn’t even hold in my excitement for a scheduled blog this is just bursting out of me. This is going to be a little different and possibly messy. There are 4 volumes to this series and each volume is under 100 pages. This makes it a very quick light read. Now the subject matter… It’s about a girl, Emily, who has seizures and when she is unconscious she transports to an alternate universe. During the first chapter something terrible happens! Now she has to buck up and fix her mess. While at university she finds some new friends that can help her fix her past mistake. Oh yeah and a love interest… I ❤ Henry!
Reviews posted below are what I wrote before I started the next book, that way you get an honest feel for how that volume was received. The last review for volume 4 will be the most complete review.

“The only three people in the world who I truly loved were my best friend, Ben, my Uncle Spencer and his fiancee, Irene. I am now grateful for what I didn’t know on that sunny afternoon. One of them would soon be lost to me. The other two, I was destined to kill without hesitation or remorse.
It wasn’t premeditated.
It was what needed to be done.
So I did it.”
Success means love. Failure a death sentence.

Into the Dark: Volume 1
Really good writing, I like the characters a lot and the underlying plot line is super unique. The way Henry and Emily interact for the first time isn’t completely different but it was great and very funny. I cannot wait to learn more about Henry and Seb( his sidekick). also so far Pippa is quite the character and I love the name Pippa! As this is novella I cannot really comment much, it would be like writing a review after the first few chapters of a full length novel. I can say that I really enjoyed this part. And I do not have everything figured out yet. I have speculations but we will have to wait and see. At the end of the book you get this: “… But my heart wasn’t in it anymore. It had already left the building.” Seriously great line, as in I love it. However they haven’t really even met yet!
Into the Dark: Volume 2
So in this installment we get a little hard-core action. Henry and Emily have a heart stopping introduction and even their first date which I can assure you, you will love is beyond amazing. It again is super short each part I think is like 5 chapters so I think part 3 should start at chapter 12. So far they have gotten better as we get further in I love Henry! He is an amazing character, hopefully we will find out his back story soon. We also haven’t learned too much more about secondary characters which is important to me. But I am about halfway through the series so we will power on and see where it takes us! Something to look forward to if you haven’t read it yet…Henry’s message and the book was probably the most adorable thing ever!
Into the Dark: Volume 3
So ask and you shall receive! Last review I complained that the main action and story line was not there, actually that may have been halfway through this book. Well the end of this book got real! You find out how both Henry and Seb got into the G&T crew and you see some of Seb’s loyalty to Henry. It was nice! We found out more of the story behind the elite group and at the end you find out something that may shock you but probably shouldn’t if you have been paying attention. The real shocker is the last line. I am still shocked by how much they all know about this alternate world and I cannot wait to read this last volume. The best line of this book is when she thinks “perhaps I should have told Henry I spoke fluent french”, I died laughing. You know this the entire time because she translates it for us but for her to think that line was fantastic!
Into the Dark: Volume 4
I absolutely loved this series! I mean jeez, when I started I really didn’t know what to expect. The blurb says hunger games meets twilight which in my book is a best seller. I just never really expected to love it this much! I also had never read one of the installment series. The thought of it kills me because I would hate to read 60 pages and then have to wait for months, plus nothing gets resolved in the first 3 books so you are just reading a portion of a story. It may be better to have multiple story threads one for each book that can be completed in that book. That’s how I feel an installment series should go. This is fine the way it is, the way to make it perfect would be to combine it into one book or release it as a set. I am going to treat it as one book.
Sorry about the rambling, this book is amazing! The plot is so great I never saw any of it coming, at all. All my theories were wrong! Which is rare, but I loved it. I get tired of predictable books. The books get better as you progress in the story. There are very minimal spelling and grammatical errors, I noticed a few places where there was a dropped word. British English has different spelling so just laugh at how we as Americans have butchered the English language while you read this. The best addition to this series is her seizure watch dog! I love how Seb interacted with the dog and how she became part of the G&T crew. My biggest problem with the books is the lack of character development in Henry and in the secondary characters. Henry is amazing and I still love him but we still don’t know too much about him. Just generic facts. And his character doesn’t grow in the books. Plus he makes a huge mistake at the end and Emily just forgets about it basically. Another character that got to me was Will, we do not learn anything about him or his motives behind what he does. The other characters don’t get too much time in the spotlight either. I would adjust that, make the books longer and then they aren’t novellas but complete novels in a more fleshed out series. Needless to say I still love this series and the authors fantastic writing ability. My heart stopped on a number of occasions and she had me on the edge of my seat gasping at parts. I highly recommend this series! And the way she ended it, you feel good about it, there could easily be another book! Best line of this volume came from Ben, “French idiots are going down”
I hope y’all give this series a chance to knock your socks off… and Enjoy!
I ❤ Henry
